Hi All,
Further to my earlier email we have now confirmed a date for the first Wanborough Wasps Coaches meeting which will be held at The Plough Tuesday 31st August 8:30pm. The agenda for this meeting is below. Anyone interested in joining us who has not already expressed an interest please let me know 0771 713 7743.
1. How can we share coaching drills (books/dvds/articles) what works what doesn't
2. The Football for All ethos - Are we reaching all the children we can and what can we do to improve this
3. Discipline - Ideas and tips how do we deal with improper behaviour at training
4. Wanborough Coaches Moving Forward - What do we need as coaches to improve us and the team
5. Specific Issues with individual teams - I hope we won't need to much time on this but feel it is important that if a particular age group is struggling we can see how to put it right, or just new ideas for improving. For this first meeting I would like to discuss a U6's session to enthuse the next crop of players.
Regards,
Chris Chilcott (U8)

Communications with Parents
To kick off information sharing its worth at this time of the year discussing how we communicate with the parents how we are going to run the squad for the season ahead.
The Level 1 course suggests we have a parents meeting, when I first started the team I had a brief chat with the parents after the initial game to cover this.
This was ok but has the downside that people can forget what is said etc as the season goes by
and it is unlikely everyone will be there.
I therefore built on what Andy Bryant did a couple of seasons ago and now write to the parents with the details of how I intend to select the team, objectives for the season, expected behaviour from the squad and the parents etc.
If any of you want to see the em I send out let me know and I will e mail it to you.
What do the rest of you do re comms with the parents before the season starts?
Anything that works well that the rest of us could implement?
Rob

from Chris Chilcott (U8)
I was hoping to arrange a meeting of all the coaches within the club before the new season however as it holiday season now this might not be possible. The key focus for the meeting would be to discuss any ideas you have to improve and develop coaching within the club, how we can get tighter links with the local schools to ensure we have maximum player availability for all the age groups (there are some age groups with a shortage of players) and also the next generation the new Year 1 how can we start to get them enthused so when they get to Year 2 we have a new U7 team in place, and how we can help each other to keep our coaching fun and enthusing for the player. We currently have 20 FA qualified coaches within the club however there is not an even split over the age groups, we should be looking to how we can help where there may be a shortage of a coach for a session which would have to be cancelled if the normal coach had a problem and couldn't make it.
We can then take any ideas and plans we have to the next main committee meeting in September to present to them for feedback and approval.
I was hoping to try and get together the week of the Bank Holiday (30th August), if you could let me know availability that week I can try to arrange it to suit the most people. Alternatively any queries or ideas via email can be discussed, and with modern technology it would be very easy to set up an interactive forum for our use.
